Glaciers shrank 10,000 years ago, but for the past 6,000 years they stabilized as temperatures slowly dropped until about a century ago. Human civilization depends on those glaciers for a steady supply of water. Without them things will get very ugly very fast.

Sam, adding CO2 traps heat at the surface (this is basic physics, established over 100 years ago). Added heat evaporates more water (again, basic physics). Added water vapor causes yet more heating (as you noted).
